*Khouri Continues Meetings with Security Leaders to Enhance Cooperation, Support and Preserve Palestinian Christian Presence*

As part of ongoing coordination with state institutions, member of the PLO Executive Committee and head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, held a series of official meetings with senior leaders of the Palestinian security forces. These included Major General Bahri Al-Abed Ibrahim Khalil, Commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces; Major General Akram Thawabteh, Director General of Civil Defense; and Major General Nidal Shaheen, Head of Military Intelligence. Committee member and representative to Europe Amira Hanania was also present.

During the meeting with Major General Al-Abed, Dr. Khouri praised the National Security Forces for their constant readiness to support the committee’s activities across the governorates, especially during religious holidays. He highlighted their vital role in creating a safe and stable environment for all.

In discussions with Major General Thawabteh, discussions centered on enhancing safety protocols at churches and monasteries, particularly during religious holidays and large gatherings. Dr. Khouri commended the Civil Defense’s continued efforts to inspect public institutions and ensure the safety of citizens.

The meeting with Major General Shaheen emphasized the importance of preserving the national fabric of Palestinian society, who is facing growing challenges. Dr. Khouri expressed concern about mounting pressures and targeted agendas that aim to undermine and displace the historic Palestinian Christian presence from its ancestral homeland.

Throughout all meetings, Dr. Khouri underscored the importance of partnership between civil and security institutions, reaffirming the commitment of the Palestinian leadership, under the guidance of President Mahmoud Abbas, to protect unity and cooperation among all segments of Palestinian society. He stressed the need for joint efforts to confront the challenges and restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation.

For their part, the security leaders reaffirmed their full commitment to continued collaboration with the Presidential Committee. They expressed readiness to contribute to all initiatives that serve the national interest, enhance public well-being, and strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people.
