Khouri Meets with Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor and Security Officials*

On Monday, Dr. Ramzi Khouri, member of the PLO Executive Committee and head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, held a series of high-level meetings in Ramallah. He met separately with Dr. Laila Ghannam, Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh; Major General Abdel Qader Al-Taamari, Director General of Preventive Security; and Major General Allam Al-Saqqa, Director General of the Palestinian Police. Also present was Amira Hanania, Committee member and its representative in Europe.

These meetings form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Committee and various state institutions.

Dr. Khouri emphasized the critical national role of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, highlighting its consistent engagement in public events and active participation in church activities, particularly during national and Christian religious holidays.

Governor Ghannam warmly welcomed the Committee’s visit and praised its vital role in safeguarding the Palestinian Christian presence and promoting values of coexistence. She affirmed that Palestine, with its leadership and people, remains a model of national unity.

In a separate meeting with Major General Al-Taamari, attended by his deputy Major General Iyad Al-Aqra (Abu Al-Fateh), both parties discussed key issues. Dr. Khouri commended the Preventive Security Service for its essential role in maintaining public safety and protecting all segments of Palestinian society. Major General Al-Taamari, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the Committee’s work and affirmed his commitment to continued collaboration aimed at preserving societal unity and safeguarding Palestine’s religious and cultural fabric.

During his meeting with Major General Al-Saqqa, Dr. Khouri lauded the efforts of the Palestinian police in upholding law and order, securing religious celebrations, and ensuring safe environments that allow citizens to freely and respectfully observe their faith. He reaffirmed his full support for the police’s efforts to serve the public and promote stability.

Major General Al-Saqqa praised the Committee’s significant national contributions and emphasized the deep historical ties that unite all components of the Palestinian people.
