Pope Francis’s Easter Message: The War on Gaza Is Causing Death and Destruction -The World Must Act Now

‏VATICAN, April 20, 2025 Pope Francis stressed during his Easter message on Sunday that the Israeli war on Gaza conflict continues to cause death and destruction and to create a dramatic and deplorable humanitarian situation.

‏On the occasion of the Christian holiday of Easter, Pope Francis appeared on the balcony over the entrance of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and delivered several messages to the world in a speech read by an aide, according to the Vatican News website.

‏He extended his closeness, in particular, to the people of Gaza and to the Christian community in the enclave, where “the terrible conflict continues to cause death and destruction and to create a dramatic and deplorable humanitarian situation.”

‏Once again, the Pope appealed for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip، release all Hostages and access to humanitarian aid.

‏The Pope called on the international community to act and come to the aid of a starving people that aspires to a future of peace.

‏Palestinian flags were raised at St. Peter’s Basilica by members of the Palestinian community in Rome, in recognition and appreciation of His Holiness’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause. They also greeted and honored him during the celebration.
